PRE-ORDER THE NEW INVENTIONS ALBUM
JANUARY 13, 2015
The collaborative superpowers of Mark T. Smith (Explosions In The Sky) and Matthew Cooper (Eluvium) have returned less than a year after their debut album, unleashing a proverbial maze of tunes that is literally called Maze of Woods! They have crafted a complex, exhuberant album from an array of instruments and found sounds, with a much greater emphasis on strong vocal accompaniment in each and every song. As if that weren't sweet enough, we've asked a few friends to do some remixes, and have collected said remixes onto a very special, very limited colored vinyl 12" that is exclusively available for bundled purchase with the Maze of Woods colored vinyl.
LILACS & CHAMPAGNE SIGN TO TEMPORARY RESIDENCE
JANUARY 6, 2015
We are ecstatic to welcome the newest addition to the Temporary Residence family, Lilacs & Champagne! The instrumental psychedelic hip-hop hybrid spent their first two alvum shining a light on the darkest corners of vintage European cinematic oddities. That path has led them here, to Midnight Features Vol. 2: Made Flesh, wherein they chart a dynamic new course that simultaneously pays tribute to and explodes the legendary beatmakers that came before. They're inching towards a masterpiece, and this is their finest work yet.
WELCOME CONTACT (MEMBERS OF ZOMBI + MAJEURE)
NOVEMBER 11, 2014
We are delighted to introduce the new duo of A.E. Paterra (Zombi, Majeure) and acclaimed UK film composer, Paul Lawler. They're called Contact, and the aptly titled 'First Contact' is their debut release. It explores a similar orbit to Paterra's other endeavors, with Lawler infuses it with heavy doses of drama and melody to give it a sound that blends late 70s Pink Floyd, the nostalgic wonder of early 80s science documentaries, and John Carpenter's legendary 80s sci-fi action films. This vinyl-only release is limited to 1,000 copies – 300 of which are on custom astral green glow-in-the-dark colored vinyl (our first-ever glow-in-the-dark record)!
MONO RELEASES TWO NEW ALBUMS ON SAME DAY
OCTOBER 28, 2014
The legendary MONO have returned with so much ferocity that it had to be split into TWO albums! The Last Dawn and Rays of Darkness find MONO shedding the massive orchestra that had become a trademark of their sound over the past decade in favor of a stripped-down, face-melting combination of vintage shoegaze, experimental metal, ambient pop, and melodic doom. This is the most pure and visceral expression of MONO's music in over a decade, and assuredly some of their strongest work ever. Theses albums ended up on a lot of Best of 2014 lists, with very good reason! If you've ever loved MONO, this is what you wanted from them. If you've never heard them, this is where you start.
